Hurricane Irma Preparation
Our Valued Customer,
We are closely watching Hurricane Irma and its potential impacts on our US-EAST datacenter location. This is an exceptionally powerful storm. We have activated our emergency response plans and have begun preparing to ensure service continuation in the event of extended US-EAST downtime due to communications infrastructure damage. It is important to note that even though the storm may not directly impact US-EAST, infrastructure servicing this area may be impacted.
Platform Preparedness: We have verified our backup and failover procedures, as well as ensured that data replication between US-EAST and US-CENTRAL is current. We are replicating key content to AU-EAST, as well as to Azure storage.
Facility Preparedness: We have interacted with our facility management to ensure general facility readiness, including backup power and generators, flood prevention, and staff readiness.
Platform Tolerance: At present all key OneLearn platform services reside in Microsoft Azure datacenters, and can be moved between Azure regions if needed. We are not anticipating any general availability interruptions of platform services.
Potential Impact: We are not anticipating impact on general availability of services. We are preparing for a reduction in capacity in the event of service interruption due to failure of public communication infrastructure in US-EAST. In the event of an extended weather-related outage, US-CENTRAL datacenter location can service the majority of scheduled classes and events. For events that cannot be serviced by US-CENTRAL datacenter, we will work with customers to reschedule/postpone events/classes that may be impacted, and any rescheduled or postponed classes will be serviced at no charge to the customer.
Updates: We will provide updates to customers as the situation changes.
