Learning with Linux

If you’re a Windows person, you probably don’t think much about Linux. The reality is that in the data center, Linux accounts for somewhere between 65% and 80% of all server deployments and growing. Among power users, developers, and security professionals, variations of Linux are making ever-increasing inroads as everyday operating systems. Even Microsoft has embraced this and included Linux as a full-fledged subsystem in Windows in the latest releases of Windows 10.

All this being said, one of the top questions asked by lab developers is “How do I create a great learning experience with Linux”?

To understand why this is […]

Choosing a Lab Fabric

The OneLearn Lab on Demand platform provides you with several options when selecting the delivery fabric for your lab. Microsoft Canada uses innovative Cloud Slice

Microsoft Canada uses innovative Cloud Slice technology to reduce hands-on lab costs by 93%

Typically, that meant gathering between 15 and 25 IT professionals for day-long intensive learning and then spending half an hour or more simply setting up the students to create accounts and get into Azure, […]

Role-Playing and Shared Labs

Role-Playing and Shared Labs

In the late 90s when IT was taught without the benefit of virtual machines, instructors and training center staff often spent long hours installing and configuring complex networks, preparing for the week’s coming classes on Windows, Linux or whatever the topic of the day was. Students interacted with each other and with the instructor. The class was not a group of isolated instances, but instead was a collaborative environment where one student could break everything for everyone. Anyone who taught classes with topics such as DHCP can remember asking, “OK, who is the […]
